New Online Resource - Opposing Viewpoints

Just in time for the new semester, our library has purchased an online subscription to Gale’s Opposing Viewpoints database. This resource is a one-stop source for information on social issues, featuring viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazine, academic journal, and newspaper articles, primary source documents, statistics, images and podcasts, and links to Websites. New Online Islamic Resource

Our library has purchased a print resource from Oxford Press that also provided an online subscription to Oxford Islamic Studies Online (OISO) for one year. This resource offers online access to the history and culture of Islam, and providing full text access to great Oxford reference and scholarly works including The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World, The Oxford History of Islam, The Oxford Dictionary of Islam, two classic interpretations of the Qur'an, a Concordance of the Qur'an, and more. Busy Bees Visit the Library

The children who attend the Busy Bees daycare at Century visited the library in their costumes for Halloween. What fun!

September New Books List Available

The September New Books List is available on the What's New page of our web site.

New Online Books Added to Collection

We have added over 400 electronic books to our collection. To see the complete list, search our catalog for the keyword Netlibrary. You can find books on a particular topic in electronic format by searching your keywords and using the dropdown labeled Select a Library Catalog. Choose electronic resources.

Grand Opening

The Science/Library Building had its Grand Opening today. Library staff participated in the procession across the bridge and in the program following. After lunch, many people toured the library.

New Databases

The Electronic Library for Minnesota has added several new databases, which are now available to the Century community:

Library Grand Opening Coming Soon!

The Century Science/Library Building Grand Opening will be on September 18, starting at 11 am with a bagpipe procession across the bridge from West to East campus. Here's the rest of the schedule:

• 11:30 Program
• 12-12:30 Complimentary lunch with entertainment by Eric Graham & Associates
• 12:30 - 4 pm Building tours, activities and demonstrations

Join us in celebrating the opening of our new facility!

New Library!

The East and West Libraries have moved into the new Science/Library building. The new library opened June 9. Some construction work continues and many student computers are still to be installed, but the library collection is available and is getting plenty of use.

Virtual Reference Books

We have a number of virtual reference books available through our catalog and from our library home page under "Gale Virtual Reference Library." We just added the Complete Dictionary of Scientific Biography to this collection.

News on the Library Move

East Library will close to the public on May 16^th. We will reopen in the new library facility on June 2^nd.

During this time, from May 19^th to May 30^th, the West Library will remain open. It will
then close to the public on June 2^nd.

April Display Case

April is Poetry Month! Check out the display case on the main floor of the west library. The display case is featuring poetry from around the world. Stop by and take a look! You can check out any of the volumes in the display too!

Tinted Windows

The glass in the south facing windows in the library will be electronically tintable. Here's a picture of a test of the tinting. Very interesting!
