Celebrate the Freedom to Read

It’s Banned Books Week!  Have you read a banned book lately?  It's more likely than you think.  Find the most banned books of 2013 or check out the top 100 for the previous decade.

The books featured in our display case have been targets of attempted removal from libraries in the United States. Thanks to the efforts of librarians, teachers, booksellers, and members of the community most books were retained in the library collection . Come to the library and check out a banned book!

While you're in the library, ask at the circulation or reference desk for a entry form for our drawing.  You could win a copy of banned books like Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Looking for Alaska by John Green, or a Banned Books tote. Enter today!

Our whiteboard features news stories about attempts to remove books from libraries.  Add your comments and opinions!

And remember to read banned books!
